Where Are We Going?

In today’s world one discusses— the imminent conflict in a country, terrorism horrors that wreck nations, the latest merger or acquisition, the recent budget to set yet another course of worried faces etc. There exists a Brobdingnagian list of subjects that draw a large horde of schmoozers as well as overeager listeners. However, speech having been there through centuries can either serve a cause or lead to a spate of ceaseless dissensions.a

The current throng of media has constantly covered every update of the events that have been mounting to an arrest of a known name in political scenario. An imminent arrest which has been pending for the past few days has taken its toll on not only the law makers but the general public as well. While some wait silently, ready to strike the minute any physical arrest is made. Others sit silently praying that the arrest doesn’t lead to mass destruction in the city. The former having already given a prelude to the destruction that can be expected, have successfully postponed the law making body to follow through with the task assigned to them. While the latter, some who were innocent victims in the initial destruction, have been taciturnly waiting for the next wave of events that are expected post the apprehension that is to take place. This being said, it gives one to wonder are countries today ruled by a governing body or by singular people. There is always someone at the helm that leads the pack. But the members do have a say in the matter, if that was not the case then we simply have been promoting a communalist government disguised in a democratic cloak. When did countries take a path that let one person’s indictment cause havoc to multitude? This is not the first instance however; this scenario has been seen world over in many countries through the years.

One person gains the self-assigned right to rule over people based on judgment he/she deems fit irrespective of the consequences it may have on the lives of people who are victims of the judgment. Take for instance another country where the citizens would soon lose their given right to privacy due to lack of adequate representation that would be assigned to governing body assigned to protect these rights. Due to growing terrorism concerns, a governing body is setting out to pass a bill that would largely lead to an invasion of privacy for the citizens. At the moment, chaos lies within the government with some pleading with those at the helm to carefully think through this motion. The emergence of this bill has the hand of one singular person. Yet again, we are thrown into the harsh realities of the world as it stands today, where one person can lead to, so great a conflict in a nation. Are governments today really built on democracies for the people, by the people and of the people, or are they built for those that through skillful tact can turn an entire nation’s path to pander to their own ideologies and schemes.
